ANKARA Rouhollah Hosseini, Iran's 91kg pugilist, outpointed Egyptian boxer Monday in his first bout in the Istanbul-based international tournament.

This is the second victory of Iran. Mohammadreza Qarouni representing Iran in the 81kg class beat his Yugoslav opponent on the first day.

In other bouts, Iranian boxers, Morteza Ya'qoubloo, Mohammad Asheri, Homayoun Amiri and Alireza Esteki were defeated by their Hungarian, Turkish, Turkish and Greek rivals in the 57, 60, 75 and +91kg divisions, respectively.

The 17th international boxing tournament in Istanbul started Sunday and 314 pugilists from 37 countries have participated.

In men's contests, 209 boxers are competing and 105 are clashing in women's bouts, IRNA reported.

Turkey has 23 female and 30 male boxers in the five-day international tournament.
