Japanese Musician Performs Concert on Iranian Spiritual History
This concert was performed simultaneously with the screening of a film on Iranian historical works in Spiral Hall in Tokyo and was highly acclaimed by the 500 guests.
Saito, who plays music inspired by nature and his surroundings, was the supervising guide of a group who visited Iran last month to do cinematography work.
In this concert entitled "In Search of Humans' Spiritual Roots", the ancient Iranian monuments in Persepolis, Pasargadae and Naqsh-e Rostam are somehow linked to a kind of epic music in such a way that they are related to the architecture and the Islamic arts in mosques like Imam Mosque and Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque.
Saito, whose music is inspired by philosophy and mysticism, also performed two other pieces about the civilizations of Lebanon and Ethiopia during the concert.
This musician, who works for a nonprofit organization, last year performed a number of programs at the Fajr Music Festival in the Dialogue Among Civilizations section.
Saito's manager announced that this musician has performed a total of 240 benefit concerts in various countries. Over 100,000 people attended one of these performances entitled "The World Statement" on November 10, 2001.
According to her, Saito plays improvised music based on the content of written messages and the inspiration he receives from the audience.
Saito will perform improvised music in September 2003 near the historical monuments of Persepolis and Isfahan.
