TEHRAN -- Carry-on luggage worth $7.9 million were exported in the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 21) to the Central Asian republics from the border customs offices.

Public Relations Department at Iran's Customs Administration reported on Monday that carry-on-luggage exports accounted for 1.2 percent of exports from the country in the first two months of the year.

The carry-on-luggage exports during this period showed 7.2 percent decline compared to the figure for the same period last year.

Based on the report, Astara Customs Office topped the list of the carry-on-luggage exports with $2,621,000 worth of goods bound for the Central Asian republics.

It was followed by Sarakhs Customs Office with $2.1 million and Bilesawar Customs Office with $1.1 million worth carry-on-luggage exports.

Bilesawar Customs Office reserved the biggest growth in carry-on luggage exports in the first two months of the Iranian year. Its exports during this period showed 452 percent growth compared to the figure for the same period the year before.
