The play ****Sahouri*** directed by Qotbeddin Sadeqi is currently on stage in Sayeh Hall of the City Theater. Sadeqi also directed the plays ****Line of Love**** and ****Seven Lost Tribes****.

Mikaeil Shahrestani, who has acted in most of Sadeqi's plays, also performs in this play. The stage designer is Monireh Maleki.

'Sahouri' is the story of a mystical journey of a man in love, a love which is both metaphorical and real. Everyone can take this material and spiritual journey and no one leaves the hall without an opinion on the matter.

There are beautiful stories, wisdom and philosophy in the treasure of Persian literature, an endless source which Sadeqi has employed in 'Sahouri'.

But how successful is he in converting these texts into plays and performances? Narration is the main problem of plays all over the world and especially in Iran.

Of course, the director with the help of dramatic trick in writing the play drama and role-playing has been able to present a narration in the form of a play.

Although plays like 'The Maids' written by Jean Genet, which is curently on stage in Chaharsou Hall, are more popular, most of the audience does not know that it is also based on role-playing.

This fact illustrates how far audience tastes are from our own culture and the unbalanced tendency toward foreign culture of some members of our society.

Therefore, plays like 'Sahouri' are sorely needed to help develop a national theater.

Preserving the deep and mystical meanings of our culture with the knowledge of performances of today's contemporary theater can reach lead the Iranian works to the higher positions.
