TEHRAN – Justice Minister Jamal Karimi-Rad announced on Saturday that the Judiciary will soon present the bill on political crime to the government.

This bill is focused on defining and determining instances of political crime, he told the students news agency ISNA.

Karimi-Rad added that the government and the Judiciary were working jointly to draw up the bill which has been underlined in the Fourth Five-Year Development Plan.

He noted that some aspects of the plan, which was first brought up by the sixth Majlis, have currently been accomplished.

Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaii told reporters on Saturday that according to the Five-Year Development Plan the Judiciary has been tasked to draw up a bill on political crime and to present it to the government.

Once the government has sanctioned the bill, it should present it to the parliament for approval, Rezaii noted, adding that the EC has called on the Judiciary and the government to take prompt action in this regard.
