To accompolish Iran's tourism targets for which ground is being prepared and efforts are being made to attract tourists from all over the world, it was necessary to project the existing monuments of Boushehr, Hadji Pour said. Tens of ancient archetectural sites include Jame mosque, Chehel Khaneh caves, Ghavam store ,Bardestan fort, Achaemenian palace, Borazjan castle, Siraf harbour ,Malek building, English cemetry and Raees Ali's home, head of Boushehr's cultural heritage department said.

He further said The old monuments of Boushehr together with its attractive geograghical and climatic conditions are located in Beyt Milani". One can see similar houses in important cities on the nothern coasts of the Persian Gulf as well as in north of Syria". He explained: There are corridors with magnificient columns in front of some of these houses.

One of these opens into the rooms and the other toward the courtyard. The roofs of the rooms are covered with grass mats and wooden planks. Referring to the significant features of these structures, the head of cultural heritage organization said Some laders have been improvised in the ground floor and inside the rooms. There is a pool and a store on the back of the yard and all houses have been built with coral stones and with plaster on them.

The two entrance doors made of wood have been decorated with beautiful designs. Abdolaziz Baladi believes that coral stones are the most important and fundamental material used in the old buildings of Boushehr. These stones are the formations of sea deposits and are abundantly found in the vicinity of Boushehr". One of the ancient towns with great historical importance in this region is Reyshahr" which is located at a distance of eight kilometers from Boushehr. The monuments discovered in this city date back between 3000 and 1000 B.C. From the Elam inscriptions, it was found that these were known as Liyan, Baladi stated.

The University of Bushehr built at the time of Ardeshir Babekan was considered as one of the outstanding centres of learning throughout the world. Reyshahr was popular after Islam for many centuries. In 16th and 17th centuries, it was regarded as a great commercial center by Portugese. Dubares estimated there were 2000 houses in this town. Old Monuments and tourist attractions of this province include Poseidon temple (for the god of seas), Mohammad Hanife's tomb, the remains of a church and a monastery dating back to Christians of Sasanid period and a well known dutch fort.

Regarding the characteristics of Imam Zadeh Mir Mohamad, Marziyeh Mousavi, an expert in cultural heritage, said" This building which dates back to 738 A.H in Saljughi period shines like a bright stone on Kharg island . The remarkable features of this tomb comprise two toothed and round pyramid domes and star-shaped as well as eigth sided tiles inside the tomb, she stated.

She also added The monuments of Siraf have aroused enthusiam in people from all walks of life and the existence of Raees Ali's home is a symbol of southern people's resistence against colonization. Mansouri Zadeh pointed out that Investment in the areas of repairing and maintaining these historical monuments can play a vital role in further promoting tourist industry and preserving the rich cultural heritage of this country.

Referring to the tourist potential of this province, Boushehr's governer general asked cultural authorities to take effective measures to develope the tourist industry in the province. If all the existing monuments in the province are paid due attention and are well looked after, this province will also come out of isolation, Mohammad Ebrahim Ansari Ph.D. said. He also stated This goal can be achieved only through a comprehensive study carried out by cultural experts and wide publicity by mass media especially IRNA and IRIB. Boushehr's governor general said the tourism can expand Islamic values and prevent evil propaganda against our country and thus all of us should take necessary effective steps for making the monuments of the region known to people around the globe.
