1st Intl. Tourism Film Festival to Be Held in Arg-e Jadid

TEHRAN -- In order to expand cultural ties between Iran and other countries, the 1st International Tourism Film Festival (ITFF) is scheduled to be held on May 4-8, 2003, in Arg-e Jadid Special Economic Zone, Kerman Province.

Iran Touring and Tourism Organization (ITTO), as well as Arg-e Jadid have organized and sponsored the event.

The festival will be in sections of introducing tourist attractions in Iran and abroad, lasting development and culture of environment preservation and cultural heritage, travel and education of Iranian community to tourism culture. Head of ITTO said, "Amid their success abroad, Iranian films have not properly reflected tourist attractions in Iran." Mohammad Moezzeddin noted, "The ITTO will purchase any film that will be able to advertise and promote tourist attractions in Iran."

At the end of the event, judges from Egypt, Greece, France India, and Persian Gulf countries will select 40 winners.

One hundred years of cinema in Iran, special meetings, photo exhibition, and children painting exhibition are among the sidelines of the festival.

Films received in 16mm, 35mm, video, and DV Cam will be screened and reviewed at the competition section of the festival.
