TEHRAN -- Canadian Ambassador to Iran Philip McKinon on Wednesday held talks with Vice-Speaker of Parliament Mohammadreza Khatami on ways to develop Tehran-Ottawa relations.

Mohammadreza Khatami expressed pleasure with the growing relations between Iran and Canada and hoped that relations would develop in all areas.

He called for economic cooperation between Iran and Canada including joint investment and said that despite the political competition in Iran, all political parties are unanimous about economic development and transfer of technology through investment.

He said that Iran attaches high importance to relations with Canada and called for development of cooperation between the Iranian and Canadian non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the academic centers.

McKinon said that he was pleased with mutual cooperation in the field of oil and gas adding that the Canadian firms are keen on investment in oil, gas and other industrial sectors, IRNA reported.
