MADRID -- Real Madrid midfielder Claude Makelele will miss this week's Champions League semifinal, second leg against Juventus, while injured striker Ronaldo has little chance of recovering in time to play.

"Makelele is definitely out for the Juventus game and will be unable to play for two weeks," club doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez told Radio Marca on Monday.

The French international strained a thigh muscle in Saturday's goalless draw at Recreativo Huelva in the league.

Ronaldo's chances of playing against the recently-crowned Serie A champions in Turin on Wednesday were very slim according to chief of medical staff Alfonso del Corral. "We are doing all we can to get the player ready and there is still a little time left," he said. "But the truth is that I think it will be almost impossible."

The Brazilian striker injured his calf during last week's 2-1 first-leg win over Juventus at the Bernabeu.

The good news for Real is that midfielders Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo appear to have shaken off minor injury worries and should be able to play in Italy, Reuters reported.

Striker Raul will also be available after making a quicker than expected recovery from an appendix operation. "If nothing out of the ordinary happens they should all be able to play," said Del Corral. "But to be certain we will have to see how they react after training on Monday."
