TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) -- “Two Hundred Iranian books for Children and young adults are to be digitized at the U.S. International Library,” Shahla Eftekhari director of the Children’s Book Council Library told the Mehr News Agency here on Saturday.

“At the 28th Congress of Children’s Literature held in Switzerland this year, when Jain White one of the U.S. library directors saw Iran’s achievements in this regard proposed listing the Persian books among the children books of the U.S. eLibrary for children and young adults,” Eftekhari said.

Eftekhari also said, “After White’s suggestion, Sara Irvani intermediary between the Children’s Book Council and the U.S. Congress Library and I have taken the responsibility of selecting and sending the Iranian children’s fiction to the U.S. library. In the first stage, we reviewed the fictions submitted to the council over the last 40 years and selected 200 books from the notable ones.

She went on to say that the quality of texts and pictures has been given due attention in order to select the works.

In conclusion, Eftekhari said that the Iranian books are to be sent to the U.S. library by 2006.
