Floods Death Toll Rises to 11

TEHRAN Death toll of the Tuesday floods in Tasouj, near Shabestar in East Azarbaijan Province, rose to 11 persons with discovery of another body on Wednesday. Secretary of the local Natural Disasters Headquarters, Ali Falsafi said that more than 30 people have been injured in the floods. The floods, caused by heavy rains, have also destroyed a large number of houses in Tasouj and two nearby villages.
Relief teams along with 12 ambulances were immediately dispatched to the flood-stricken areas. Meanwhile, floods in Orumiyeh and Maku in West Azarbaijan Province, in northwest Iran, have damaged farmlands and houses in the two cities and the nearby villages. An official at the West Azarbaijan Provincial Natural Disasters Headquarters said that some 200 houses have also been inundated in Maku. Rural roads have sustained damage and many livestocks have been killed in Orumiyeh and Maku, he added.
