British embassy hostages kidnapped in Ethiopia back in UK
The group flew back from the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, and landed at Brize Norton Royal Air Force base in Oxfordshire after being release on Tuesday.
The group, of the three British men, an Anglo-Italian and a French woman, were abducted by a gang of more than 30 armed men on March 1 when they were on a tourist trip to visit geological sites in the remote Afar region, in the north of Ethiopia.
According to the Sky News, two vehicles belonging to the group were later found abandoned in the north-eastern village of Hamedali. And their vehicles - a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Land Rover Discovery - were riddled with bullets, but still contained luggage and mobile phones.
Ethiopian authorities have intensified their investigation of the kidnapping ever since.
On Wednesday, the group issued a statement, saying that they had been "well treated" by their captors.
"We are immensely happy that we have been released and would like to thank all those who have been involved in our release," the statement said.
"We were treated well by our captors - physically we are all in good condition but obviously very tired," said the statement.
