TEHRAN (PIN) – A member of Majlis (Iran’s parliament) Economic Committee said that a double-urgency plan was being drawn up for increasing gasoline quota of every car to five liters per day.

Seyyed Kazem Delkhosh told PIN that the plan would be discussed in the next meeting of the Majlis and it seemed that it would be ratified in view of the general attitude in the society. He added that the government was obliged to provide people with additional fuel and said, “According to the Budget Law, the government is authorized to decide about extra fuel, but the Constitution urges the cabinet to meet people’s basic needs.”

Delkhosh added that Majlis had obliged the government to supply part of people’s needed gasoline at 1,000 rials (10.8 cents) per liter and the extra at the cost price.
