TEHRAN -- Veteran actor and director Siavash Tahmures is scheduled to stage “The Untamed Dreams” at Tehran’s old theater, Sangalaj Hall.
“I felt proud when I was permitted to stage my play in this theater,” he said during a press conference on Monday.“For it is not a theater of small repute. I accept all its shortcomings in return for its mood of nostalgia,” he added.
Tahmures had previously applied to stage the play at the main hall of the City Theater, but his application had been rejected by cultural officials.
He criticized the officials for restricting directors’ freedom of choice in the staging of plays.
“The play takes place in a teahouse, some people enter, talk together and then leave,” Tahmures said.
“It is intended to portray the message that if we have no ambitions and do not think about our future, we will never have a goal and consequently we will face an identity crisis,” he explained.
Iraj Rad, Mohammad Eskandari, Mohammad Hatami, Shahram Abdoli, Rahim Noruzi, Ali Soleimani, and Ramin Rasrad are amongst the troupe which will give forty-five evening performances of the play starting from August 17
