TEHRAN -- Any project in which world celebrated Iranian auteur Abbas Kiarostami takes part is expected to be of consequence -- and Kiarostami has produced the last sequence of Parviz Shahbazi’s latest film “Karat 14”.

Shahbazi personally assigned this task to Kiarostami who undertook the design and direction of the sequence in Sar-Ein, near the Iranian northwestern city of Ardebil, the Persian service of the ISNA reported on Saturday.
The film tells the story of a man who manages to break away from his problematic life only to be faced with the dilemma again when a stranger appears in his small hometown.
Kambiz Dirbaz, Mohammadreza Forutan, Puria Pursorkh, Mina Sadati and Mahshid Afsharzadeh star in the production.
Kiarostami was previously responsible for the title sequence of “Friday’s Soldiers”, a provocative film by director Masud Kimiaii.
Shahbazi worked as assistant director for “The White Balloon”, Jafar Panahi’s film based on a story by Kiarostami.
“Traveller from the South” (1996) was Shahbazi’s debut film and his other credits include “Whispers” and “Deep Breath”, of which the latter was screened during the Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in 2003.
“Deep Breath” was also selected to represent Iranian cinema in the 2004 Oscar race.
