TEHRAN -- Supreme National Security Council Secretary Saeed Jalili said here on Monday that the Persian Gulf littoral states should try to prevent foreigners from creating tension in the region.

“All Persian Gulf countries should make every effort to strengthen friendly ties and prevent foreign provocations,” Jalili told visiting Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah.
The U.S. has not done anything for maintaining security in the region, and it is now entangled in crises it has created, the security official noted.
Alawi presented a report on the outcome of the discussions between Deputy Prime Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Fahd bin Mahmud al-Said and Iranian high-ranking officials to Jalili.
He also expressed appreciation for Iran’s historic role in establishing peace and security in the region.
