Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) is inviting contractors to bid for the tender to gather 3D seismic data for the Golshan and Ferdows gas fields in the south of the country.
POGC is inviting at least 10 companies to bid, according to a source close to the project, but has not yet set a date for companies to respond to its request. In January 2007, POGC and Malaysia’s SKS Ventures signed a $16bn contract to develop the two fields. The reserves at the Golshan gas field, 65 kilometers from the southern port city of Bushehr, are estimated to hold more than 50 trillion cubic feet of gas and are expected to produce 2.5 billion cubic feet a day (cf/d) of natural gas.
The Ferdows’ gas deposit is estimated at about 10 trillion cubic feet and it is expected to produce more than 880 million cf/d.
