TEHRAN – The Majlis initially agreed on Tuesday to study a bill which envisages the extension of the term of the sitting city councils by two years.

The draft bill was approved by 117-100 votes. 8 lawmakers abstained.
According to the bill, if approved, the term of the sitting city councils will be extended until the next presidential elections in 2013.
The fourth round of city councils election and eleventh presidential election will be held simultaneously
