ANKARA, Turkey (AP)— Turkey's president says he will not meet Israeli president on the sidelines of the United Nations' General Assembly in New York.

State-run Anatolia news agency quotes Abdullah Gul saying a scheduling problem will prevent him from meeting with Shimon Peres. Anatolia says Gul spoke to reporters late Sunday in New York.
Gul said that the 65th term meetings of the UN General Assembly were very important for Turkey because Turkey would chair the UN Security Council (UNSC) during its membership of UNSC.
Gul held a press conference in New York on Sunday prior to his meetings in UN which will begin on Monday.
Relations between Turkey and Israel hit a low point after Israel's May attack on an international aid flotilla that was trying to bust the blockade of Gaza. Nine people, including eight Turks and a Turkish-American, died during the raid.
Turkey is demanding an apology for the incident and compensation for the victims' families.
Gul said that Turkey would hold meetings at UN with a large delegation including Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and State Minister & Deputy Premier Ali Babacan.
Noting that UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon would hold UN Millennium Development Goals Summit prior to the 65th term meetings of the UN General Assembly, Gul said that heads of state & government from 139 countries would attend that summit.
