TEHRAN - The Iranian Army is going to hold anti-terror war games in coming days, Commander Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said on Tuesday.

Pourdastan added the war games, which will be held in areas around capital Tehran, will correspond to threats similar to those regularly created by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), Fars reported.

“To defend our country, we will use all sorts of [conventional] weapons,” the ground forces chief asserted, adding helicopters will be one feature of these exercises.

He also said the Army has deployed several units near borders around the country. “We will nip in the bud any threat in the region that is likely to affect us.”

Pourdastan, in another part of his remarks, said Iran’s military presence in Iraq and Syria is in the form of advisory which can take on-ground or in-air forms.

He further said Russia is going to deliver a number of T90 tanks to Iran and a number of military contracts are going to be signed between Tehran and Moscow.
