TEHRAN - The 5th Festival of Iranian Films, which will open in Czech capital of Prague on Wednesday, has announced lineups for its various sections.

“Today” directed by Reza Mirkarimi, “A Minor Leap Down” by Hamed Rajabi, “Taxi” by Jafar Panahi and “Risk of Acid Rain” by Behtash Sanaeiha will compete in the main competition section.

“Tales” by Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, “13” by Hooman Seyyedi, “Melbourne” by Nima Javidi and “What’s the Time in Your World?” by Safi Yazdanian will also be shown in the section.

The documentary lineup includes “I Want to Be a King” by Mehdi Ganji, “Mashti Esmaeil” by Mahdi Zamanpur Kiasari, “Fest of Duty” by Firuzeh Khosrovani, “No Land’s Song” by Ayat Najafi, “Dolls Don’t Know” by Nava Rezvani and “Dingomaro” by Kamran Heidari.

The short films “Slaughterhouse” by Behzad Abdi, “Needle” by Anahita Qazvinizadeh, “Hostess” by Omid Abdollahi, “Sormeh” by Azadeh Qochaq and “The Baby” by Ali Asghri will go on screen at the event.

In addition, some movies by Afghan filmmakers, including Atiq Rahim’s “Patience Stone” and Jamshid Mahmudi’s “A Few Cubic Meters of Love”, will be screened in the Night of Afghan Films on the sidelines of the festival.

The 5th Festival of Iranian Films will initially be held at theaters Kino Svetozor, Bio Oko and Lucerna from January 13 to 17. The festival will go on screen at Kino Scala in Brno on January 19 and 20.

Czech companies Medianest and Advanced Media Trading are the main organizers of the festival, which will be run under the auspices of the Iranian Embassy in Prague.
