Iran’s Greco-Roman wrestler Aliyari wins bronze at worlds

TEHRAN – Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Mahdi Aliyari claimed a bronze medal by walkover at the World Championships on Sunday.

He claimed a bronze in the 97kg weigh category after his Armenian Artur Aleksanyan refused to come to the mat.

It was Iran Greco-Roman team’s first medal in the World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The gold medal went to Russian Musa Evloev who defeated Bulgarian Kiril Milov 7-2 in the final match.

The championships brought more than 850 wrestlers from 97 countries together in Budapest, Hungary.
