US, Israel hatched ‘false-flag killings’ plot to stir unrest in Iran: top MP
TEHRAN - A senior Iranian parliamentarian says the US and the Israeli regime were pursuing a policy of “false-flag killings” during the recent riots in Iran.
Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said the conspiracy was in revenge for Washington and Tel Aviv’s failure during the 12-day war against Iran.
On June 13, 2025, Israel launched a blatant and unprovoked act of aggression against Iran, triggering a 12-day war that killed well over 1,000 people in the country, including military commanders, nuclear scientists, and ordinary civilians. The United States also entered the war directly by bombing three Iranian nuclear sites in a grave violation of international law.
This time, Azizi said, the US and Israel intended to create insecurity in Iran, disintegrate the country, and bring about regime change, but the Iranian nation stood up to their evil plot.
The top parliamentarian also touched upon peaceful protests by some business owners, which started in Tehran but were hijacked by the enemy to instigate unrest in the country.
He said Iran has said, time and again, that it respects people’s right to protest, especially about economic and livelihood issues.
“No one should strip people of this right,” he said.
He noted the government has recognized the protests and that plans are on the agenda to address people’s economic problems.
The MP added that Iranian people may have complaints about some issues, but they will never allow foreigners to interfere in the country’s affairs.
