Israeli airstrikes kill at least ten in eastern Lebanon
At least ten people were killed, and 25 were injured on Friday as Israeli warplanes and naval vessels targeted several towns in the Bekaa region, including Riyaq and Bednayel, Al Mayadeen reported.
Earlier, Israel struck the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Saida. These actions represent continued violations of the November 2024 ceasefire and UN Resolution 1701.
On February 19, Israeli forces also attacked southern border towns like Yaroun and Aitaroun with artillery and machine-gun fire, while a drone dropped a stun grenade on Odaisseh.
Despite the February 18 withdrawal deadline, Israel has illegally maintained five elevated strategic positions—stretching from Naqoura to Kfar Kila—overlooking civilian areas such as Bint Jbeil and Maroun al-Ras.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the raids as hostile acts intended to thwart diplomatic efforts and international resolutions.
Hezbollah MP Rami Abu Hamdan described the strikes as massacres that must not be normalized, calling for a radical change in the national defense approach.
He urged the government to suspend ceasefire monitoring meetings until the aggression stops, arguing that political maneuvering without force is a waste of lives.
