Strategic Partnership Between India, Iran a Necessity: Najafi

NIMRANA, India The strategic partnership between India and Iran for the protection of domain of civilizations and cultures and national identity is a need of the hour in the era of globalization, said Dr. Ali-Mohammad Najafi.
Addressing the Indo-Iran meet on "dialogue among civilizations" at Nimrana palace in the western State of Rajasthan on Friday, Dr. Najafi, the advisor to the Iranian President Khatami observed, the Asian civilizations, including civilizations of Iran and India can come out of years of isolation through dialogues.
India and Iran today are apprehensive of their national identity and culture and they are facing threats from the invasion of some aggressive cultures. In the given circumstance, promotion of cultural ties between the two great nations, would undoubtedly help protect the national identity in this era of globalization, Najafi added.
Referring to the civilizations of India and Iran as cradles of civilizations in Asia, Najafi maintained, India is a real manifestation of religious, cultural and ethnic diversity.
Hoping that the Indo-Iran meet by highlighting the commonalities between the civilizations of the two countries, would create a conducive atmosphere for expansion and deepening of cultural relations between the two countries, Najafi said, "I hope these talks would explain the principles of strategic friendship between the two countries," Najafi observed.
The four-day Indo-Iran meet on "dialogue among civilizations and national identity" was inaugurated Friday by Najma Heptullah, deputy chairman of the Upper House of Indian Parliament in Nimrana palace.
An Iranian delegation led by the advisor to the Iranian president is participating in this meeting.
