ROME The agents of the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq Organization (MKO) have started a wide-scale campaign with the goal of influencing Italian Prime Minister Giuliano Amato to cancel his scheduled visit to Iran. If they are unable to accomplish this, they hope leave a negative impact on the trip with their propaganda.

In a publicity rally by the MKO, some shuddering pictures were displayed from the Iraqi Kurdish town of Halabja where a huge number of women and children were killed and injured by an Iraqi chemical attack during its imposed war with Iran. The pictures warned the passersby that the same fate awaits Iranian women and children.

The people of Halabja were killed by Iraqi forces and the chemical weapons were provided to Iraq by Western countries. However, by such false propaganda the MKO aims to attribute the crimes of the West and Iraq, which support the grouplet, to Iran.

The Italian Prime Minister Giuliano Amato is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on February 23, for a three-day visit.

Now, it has become apparent that, despite the development of relations between Iran and Italy, especially in the area of trade, the MKO is trying to influence the Italian government in order to tarnish the image of Iran in Italy.
