PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has been dropped by Trinidad and Tobago for a World Cup qualifier against Honduras after missing a warm-up game.

Yorke and utility player Anthony Rougier of English second-division Reading were both axed for Saturday's CONCACAF match after they had been summoned to meet Coach Ian Porterfield and technical staff to explain their absence from Sunday's warm-up game against Panama in Panama City.

Yorke had been expected to link up with the team in Miami on Tuesday last week. He met the team at the airport but failed to get on to the flight and traveled to Trinidad instead.

He later reported that he had planned to travel to Panama on Friday but the sudden illness of a member of his family had forced him to stay at home.

However, Yorke was seen at the weekend in night clubs with team Captain Russell Latapy and West Indies cricketer Brian Lara, Reuters reported.

Rougier was in Trinidad but chose not to play, officials said.

The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation (TTFF) said both players would be considered for selection for the following games against the United States in Boston on June 20 and Jamaica in Port of Spain on July 1.

But TTFF President Oliver Camps said they would be brought back only after they had committed themselves fully to the team's cause.
