TEHRAN - The Azerbaijan Republic lauded Iran's efforts to help extinguish a fire which had broken out in the Azeri farmlands.

The Azeri state television quoted officials from the country's Ministry of National Security as saying that Iran's aid workers, including eight personnel with four fire fighting machines, have helped the Azeri workers in putting out the blaze in the farmlands of some villages near Azerbaijani city of Fozouli.

The commander of Azeri security forces in the border region of Huradiz thanked the Iranian firefighters for their efforts in extinguishing the fire in the three villages.

The TV also said that the fire, which spread from the Aslandouz farmlands of Iran by winds, broke out in a three kilometers by 300 meters area.

The fire broke out on Friday evening and was extinguished early Saturday.

There is no report on damages or casualties.
