U.S. Policies Contravene World Conventions
Bolton, who was speaking at a gathering of the International Council of B'nai B'rith, also called for full cooperation between Russia and the U.S. in the campaign against terrorism and efforts to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Political analysts hold the view that Bolton's statement was a clear example of U.S. political blackmail and its interference in bilateral relations between other countries with the aim of imposing its unilateralist policies.
The U.S. baselessly claims that Russia is transferring to Iran the technology that could be used to produce weapons of mass destruction. It also charges that the nuclear reactors that Iran is building with Moscow's cooperation are meant to produce nuclear weapons, although they are actually meant for electricity generation.
The fact of the matter is that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) conducts regular inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities and has never reported any irregularities, always certifying the use of these facilities for peaceful purposes.
In contrast, Israel has a nuclear weapons program and possesses approximately 200 nuclear weapons in its arsenal, a fact admitted by most military experts. Furthermore, the Zionist regime has never allowed IAEA inspections of its nuclear facilities and is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) either.
The U.S. makes unsubstantiated allegations against Iran and other independent countries but never condemns the Zionist regime for building weapons of mass destruction, since Israel is its main ally in the region.
Also, the U.S. has withdrawn from the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) Treaty. This unilateral action has been roundly condemned because it could lead to a new arms race threatening world peace.
The United States possesses the world's largest arsenal of nuclear weapons and has used depleted uranium (DU) weapons in Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Serbia. The DU weapons contaminated large areas of Iraq and the Balkans, and civilians are still dying as a result of this U.S. war crime.
Considering this record as well as Washington's unfounded accusations against independent countries, it is quite clear that the U.S. policies contravene internationally recognized conventions as well as the rights of independent countries to have sound relations with other nations.
