WASHINGTON -- The United States will supply about $300,000 worth of relief supplies to victims of Saturday's earthquake in northwestern Iran, the State Department said Thursday.

U.S. aid will include six "water bladders" capable of holding 10,000 liters each, two water purification systems capable of supplying water to 10,000 people a day, 5,000 wool blankets and 12,000 "personal hygiene kits" containing soap, laundry detergent, toothbrushes and tooth paste, State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said, as quoted by DPA.

The aid will be supplied through UNICEF, which will handle transport and distribution, Boucher said.
