TEHRAN -- The Law Enforcement Forces would act only on the basis of law and in response to the dictates of national interest and the people's wishes over anything else, a statement published by the LEF Social Department said on Wednesday.

On July 29-30 local dailies run stories by an executive official who claimed that Siamack Pourzand's confessions about some cultural figures are lies, the claim reportedly having emanated from a high-ranking LEF official, the LEF Social Department said.

It said all the proceedings against Pourzand have been consistently reported to the legal and executive officials since Pourzand was arrested and put on trial.

The LEF further said all his confessions had been made freely and not under any duress and are now part of his dossier and in his own handwriting.

It further added all those who have been arrested on the basis of Pourzand's confessions have completely confirmed the statements made by Pourzand.
