Professor Hessabi, Founder of Tehran University

TEHRAN - Yesterday marked the demise anniversary of the founder of Tehran University, Professor Mahmoud Hessabi.
Professor Hessabi was born in Tehran. His father was an ambassador to several countries and consequently he was educated abroad. He studied engineering and received a Ph.D. in physics in France.
He returned to Iran in his 30 years and began his career as a university instructor at Dar-Ul-Mo'allemin (House of Teachers) Institute.
The professor was called the father of Iranian physics because he was the first to teach physics at Iranian universities.
With the cooperation of some of his colleagues and high-ranking officials, Hessabi established Tehran University.
He also established the Science and Technical faculties of the university.
