TEHRAN -- An Indian cultural expert said in an interview that the Iranian filmmakers are among the few Asian artists who do not follow the Western cinema and make films based on realities in the society. Anu Sirinivasan, one of the organizers of Iranian Film Club (IFC) in India said, "India and Iran share a great deal of commonalties in culture and history. They even think that they share the very same problems, too. Therefore Iranian films are very popular among the Indian audience." She added, "IFC was opened last year in order to promote the Iranian cinema. In some cities such as Banaras, people are only interested in watching Iranian films. Therefore, We need Iran's support to promote and advertise them, and they should regularly provide the club with 35mm films." On the possibility of joint film productions, she said, "This is possible only if the Iranian directors travel to India to cooperate and use the Indian technology in cinema. India can also send its film students to Iran to study and learn the techniques from the Iranian filmmakers."

IFC was opened on August 2001 in India in order to promote the Iranian cinema and also to strengthen the ties between the two nations.
