Iran Ranks First in Trade Partnership with Dubai

ABU DHABI - The official report released by Dubai Customs Department said here Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran ranks first in trade partneship with Dubai in 1997. The report said that the quantity of re-exported goods from Dubai stood at $544 million during the first eight months in 1997. India re-imported $220 million worth merchandise; Saudi Arabia $140 million; Afghanistan $134 million ranking second, third and fourth respectively during the same period.

Some of the re-export items include electrical equipment, garments, mechanical gadgets and a variety of consumer goods. Based on the report, Dubai re-imported over $2.9 billion worth merchandise during the same period. Dubai's foreign non-oil trade stood at $14.6 billion. The export and import of non-oil items during the first eight month in 1997 stood at $10.7 billion and about one billion dollars respectively.
