ElBaradei Will Consider Iran’s Transparent Cooperation: IAEA Spokesman
Gwozdecky, speaking with the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) called Iran’s cooperation with the agency as satisfactory in regard to the recent talks held between Iranian and European officials, adding that only the IAEA Board of Governors is able to issue the reports of the inspections and to decide on the issue.
Asked if Iran still faces any question in regard to its nuclear activities, he said that the agency needs to cooperate closely with Iran and therefore inquires the necessary questions.
“However it’s too soon to judge if Iran has answered all the questions concerning its nuclear issues,” he said.
Gwozdecky highlighted his recent remarks in regard to Iran’s past shortcomings toward the IAEA noting that the ideas he had pointed to were similar to those of Iranian officials.
The spokesman said that the Iranian officials themselves publicly announced Iran’s failure to present a comprehensive report to the agency.
“My remarks regarding Iran’s failure toward the IAEA indicated the statements made by Iranian officials and I cannot presently explain the contents of these failures,” he said.
Gwozdecky, refusing to express his opinion on the future of Iran’s nuclear issues said that the IAEA Board of Governors will make the final decision.
The spokesman underlined the agency’s impartial stance adding that its past activities in Iraq show the agency’s neutrality toward the goals of certain countries. HL/MS/IS END MNA
