TEHRAN – Producing one million tons of direct welded pipes per year as well as some 200,000 tons of spiral pipes, Iran has the highest potential for the production of the large diameter steel pipes in the Middle East.

Given the recent developments in Iran’s pipe producing plants, the nation has gained a special foothold in the international markets in comparison with other countries in the region, noted Mohammad Sardarnia, the CEO of Mahshahr Pipe Production Plant.

In the light of the nation’s huge oil and gas reserves, the issue of producing large diameter steel pipes in the country had sunk into oblivion, however, after the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the need for the development of the industry was once again put on the table, he asserted.

No serious problem is facing the industry. Moreover, there are good laws and regulations in this regard which would support the domestic industries, he asserted adding, however, the legislations have not been made use of properly.
