10th Olefin project boosts petrochemical exports

TEHRAN (PIN) – The tenth olefin plan of Jam Petrochemical Complex, which is the country’s and the world’s biggest olefin plant and aims at expanding petrochemical products exports, has progressed by 95.04 percent by the end of the month ending May 21.

The plan also aims to achieve part of the country’s goals with regard to industrial development; increase domestic earning; uplift scientific, technical and social status of Iran; expand export of oil products and petrochemicals; rise Iran’s share of global and regional markets; make optimal use of hydrocarbon resources and creating value added; generating more jobs and promoting technical know-how in engineering fields.

About 2 billion dollars have been invested in the complex including 1.4 billion dollars and 4,500 billion rials.

Jam Petrochemical Complex will produce 1.32 million tons ethylene, 320,000 tons propylene, 300,000 tons high density polyethylene, 300,000 tons low density polyethylene, 300,000 tons polypropylene, 450,000 tons ethylene glycol, 115,000 tons butadiene, 200,000 tons alpha-amines, and 220,000 tons benzene pyrolysis.

Products of the tenth olefin plant will be used to produce carpets, wall-towall carpets, acrylic fibers, textile as well as plastic products such as cable covering and various types of films.
