TEHRAN – Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) has on its agenda the development of a system based on which the nation’s airports would be rated.

CAO inspectors will within the next two days begin their work to evaluate the nation’s airports and assign each a rank, noted on Saturday, Nurollah Rezaii-Niaraki, the organization’s chairman.

The nation’s airports will fall into three classes according to their capacities, round the clock services, number of the available runways and some other factors, he explained adding, this would help the passengers know in advance about the facilities and services provided by the airport they choose to fly with.

Referring to the number of the nation’s airliners he said that Iran’s air passenger fleet currently consists of 120 airliners. However, he added, preparations have been made for a number of new jetliners to join the fleet.

Purchasing new airliners is still on the agenda of the nation’s airline companies, whether run by public or private sector, he also announced.
