KUWAIT (KUNA) -- Kuwait’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Saturday lifted the ban imposed on the import of fish and all marine products - fresh or refrigerated, from Iran, India and Pakistan.

In a press release, the ministry said that the Minister of Commerce and Industry Falah al-Hajiri rendered this resolution following the recommendation of the Committee on the food safety. "In a precautionary measure, the committee further recommended the necessity of a periodical inspection to marine products imported from the three states," the ministry said.

The purpose of undertaking the periodic inspection is to stand on the validity of such products for the human consumption, the ministry said, pointing out that the above resolution was necessary to ensure the adherence of fish importers with health controls, rules and technical requirements, to be taken into account in this area.
