Iran calls for dialogue to resolve dispute on nuclear program, Borujerdi tells German MP
Borujerdi said that Iranian and German nations enjoy longstanding affinity and Iranian public opinion accords high esteem to the German nation.
He said that Iranian Parliament supports enhancing of level of Tehran-Berlin relations.
Borujerdi said that Iranian nuclear program is transparent adding that Iran voluntarily suspended nuclear program for two and a half years in order to reach an agreement with three European states, France, Britain and Germany, but, all of a sudden the EU-3 shifted the course and referred Iran to the Security Council.
"Iran has exercised close cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and all nuclear sites are under supervision of the UN nuclear agency."
"The IAEA has carried 2000 person/day inspection on Iranian nuclear sites and in the 1,030-page report on Iran of the UN nuclear agency, Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei reiterated that Iran has made no diversion from the civilian program," Borujerdi said.
The Iranian MP said that confidence-building between Iran and the parties which disputed Iranian nuclear program should be mutual adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to secure stipulations of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Iran had signed Additional Protocol to NPT which granted intrusive inspection to IAEA on nuclear sites, referral to the Security Council brought reaction from Iran to suspend the Additional Protocol.
Borujerdi said that Iran believes to resolve the outstanding issues on nuclear program through negotiations adding that exerting pressure on Iran with imposing sanctions at the Security Council will further complicate the issue rather than resolve it.
Mozen said, for his part, that Germany is willing to develop cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and German parliament also is keen on cooperation with Iranian legislative body.
He called for close academic cooperation with Iran and promoting German language and Persian in either country.
Mozen hoped that the dispute on Iranian nuclear program would be resolved through dialogue and the parties involved in the dispute would come up with an initiative to make a breakthrough diplomatically.
