TEHRAN (IRNA) -- Iran's powerful sociopolitical school and political acumen have confounded the major powers, Interior Minister Mostafa Pur-Mohammadi said here on Saturday.

"Enemies are not only concerned about Iran's access to peaceful nuclear energy. They have raised issues such as human rights because they cannot tolerate the country's political power and victories," Pur-Mohammadi added.

The enemies, themselves, have had the highest figure of human rights violation, he said adding that they witness that thousands of innocent people are victimized by the bullying powers each day.

There are many people living in the U.S. or Western states who hate such policies and protest at human rights violation of millions of people, the Iranian minister noted.

Pointing to successful and healthy elections recently held in Iran and the nation's massive participation in the polls, the minister stated that observation of regulations was among main reasons behind holding secure elections.

Elections for members of the 4th Assembly of Experts and local councils were held simultaneously across the country on December 15.

The 7th Majlis also held its second by-elections in three constituencies -- Tehran, Rey, Shemiranat and Eslamshahr (taken as one), Bam and Ahvaz.

Twenty-eight million voters came out to vote. Turnout was estimated at over 60 percent.
