“Persian Carpet” in PIFF line up

TEHRAN -- The Iranian documentary “Persian Carpet”, a collaborative effort by 15 renowned Iranian directors, will be screened at the 12th Pusan International Film Festival (PIFF).

Kiumars Purahmad’s “Night Bus” and Naqi Nemati’s “Those Three” will also participate in the section of the gala entitled ‘A Window on Asian Cinema’.
-----Georgian paintings to be displayed in Tehran
TEHRAN -- The Saba Cultural and Art Center is to hold an exhibit of modern paintings by Georgian artists in late October.
Cosponsored by the Tbilisi Arts Academy and Georgia’s embassy in Iran, the showcase is one in a series of exhibits of modern art displaying provincial Iranian artworks.
------IIDCYA displaying Iraqi painter’s works
TEHRAN -- The Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA) is to host an exhibit of the paintings of the Iraqi artist Intilaq Muhammad Ali. His works will be on display until November 5.
------Attar’s “Elahi-nameh” hits Uzbekistan bookstores
TEHRAN -- “Elahi-nameh” (“The Book of God”), a work of Iranian poet Farid od-Din Mohammad ibn Ebrahim Attar (c.1142?-1220), has been translated into Uzbek by Jamal Kamal Kamur and published recently in Tashkent.
This is the first Uzbek translation in verse form. Attar’s “Mantiq at-Tayr” (“The Conference of the Birds”) has been previously published in Uzbekistan.
--------Neyestan to hold concert at Niavaran Cultural Center
TEHRAN -- The Neyestan band will perform concerts at the Niavaran Cultural Center on October 18 and 19.
Band leader Kurosh Matin has previously held performances with the late vocalist Iraj Bastami.
