BEIJING, China (IRNA) -- A ceremony marking the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution was held in the Iranian Embassy in Beijing on Monday, attended by hundreds of foreign ambassadors, diplomats, and cultural figures residing in China.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Zhai Jun on behalf of the Chinese government felicitated the Iranian government and nation on the occasion.
Jun praised Iran’s progress in all arenas and called for bolstering of mutual cooperation in various fields.
He noted that the volume of trade exchange between Iran and China exceeded 20 billion dollars in 2007 and hoped that the figure would increase in 2008.
Iranian Ambassador Javad Mansouri, for his part, termed Tehran-Beijing cooperation as satisfactory, adding that the two countries’ cooperation can set a model in the international community.
The Iranian ambassador also noted that Iran attaches importance to expansion of ties with the East and proposed that Tehran and Beijing should bolster mutual economic and political cooperation at the international level.
“Undoubtedly, some countries are not satisfied with our cordial relations,” Mansouri said, adding “our bilateral ties will guarantee both sides’ interests.”
The ceremony was held with a one week delay due to its coincidence with the Chinese Spring Festival.
