Iran remains committed to NPT

The Islamic Republic of Iran will remain committed to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, an Iranian Foreign Ministry official Musavi said.
“All Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful and there is no diversion toward non-peaceful aims. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also confirms the civilian nature of Iran’s nuclear program,” said the Director General of the Foreign Ministry’s Institute for Political and International Studies Rasul Musavi at the International Conference on Nuclear Technologies in the Service of the Arab Society in Bahrain.He added that allegations leveled against Iran’s nuclear activities are politically motivated, insisting that as a responsible power; Iran seeks to contribute to regional and international security equations within the framework of its rights and duties.
The official stated that energy security is the driving force behind strategies adopted by major world powers.
“Iran’s view of energy is based on diversification of resources. Tehran has made great achievements in fields such as dam building,” he mentioned.
Musavi said that based on a religious order by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, proliferation, storage, and use of nuclear weapons are forbidden, stressing, “Iran regards possession of nuclear weapons as against its national security.”
He stated that the IAEA supervises Iran’s peaceful enrichment activities, saying Tehran would not accept offers demanding suspension of its enrichment work.
