TEHRAN – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Tuesday that security is one of the “fundamental pillars” of national development.

The Leader made the remarks in a meeting with commanders and officials of the police force.

Noting that the role of police in establishing security is highly important, the Leader said it is not possible to do economic, political and cultural activities if security is undermined.

The Leader said “peace of mind” is dependent on prevalence of security in the society. 

The Leader added, “The capabilities and readiness of police force and its staff’s resolve and faith should be increased day by day.” 

It is necessary that police forces increase their “preparedness”, improve “capabilities” and fulfill their duties properly, the Leader suggested.

Police should also elaborate on its “activities and services” to the society, Ayatollah Khamenei noted. 

The Leader also called on the police to promote security in the society.
