TEHRAN -- Malaysian Foreign Minister Rais Yatim has welcomed Iran’s decision to put forward a package of proposals to help solve global challenges.

In a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Khandaqabadi in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, Rais urged the West to carefully study Iran’s diplomatic package.
Iran presented a package of proposals meant to solve global problems to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana this week.
The proposals contained “the points of view of our country toward the great global difficulties” in the political, security, economic, and energy spheres and on the “question of the peaceful use of nuclear energy,” said a statement issued by the Iranian Embassy in Brussels on Tuesday.
Rais expressed support for Iran’s right to continue its nuclear program and said he hoped the package would help resolve the dispute over Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.
He also advised the West to avoid applying “double standards” toward Iran.
Khandaqabadi said that Iran has already clarified its position on nuclear disarmament, global security, the campaign against injustice, and the need to bring an end to “scientific apartheid”.
Iran is seeking to promote global justice, security, and stability, the ambassador observed
