Heads of OPEC, IEA to meet on oil prices

The secretary general of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Abdalla Salem El-Badri, and the executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Nobuo Tanaka, will meet in July to discuss important issues currently facing the oil sector such as the surging oil prices, demand, supply and the future of the oil industry.
The meeting is scheduled to hold at the OPEC / IEA Luncheon, one of the highlights of the 19th World Petroleum Congress.The OPEC / IEA Luncheon, which will take place on July 2nd, is one of the most popular networking events of the Congress.
The speakers will debate the important issues affecting the industry today, including oil prices, demand, supply and resources, as well as the future of a sector so crucial for our global economy. Dr. Noe van Hulst, the newly appointed secretary general to the International Energy Forum (IEF), will moderate the discussion.
During the 4-day Congress, held under the theme: A World in Transition: delivering Energy for Sustainable Growth, 540 speakers will participate in an extensive programme including seven plenary sessions, fifteen ministerial sessions, seven special sessions, four luncheons and numerous technical sessions. The programme will be divided into four blocks: Upstream, Downstream & Petrochemicals, Natural Gas & Renewables and Managing the Industry.
The World Petroleum Congress, to be held in Madrid from June 29 to July 3, is the most important meeting for the oil and gas sector. Every three years the Congress brings together thousands of industry leaders and experts from the petroleum industry. Madrid was elected in 2004 to host the 19th Congress, and will be addressing the sustainability challenge in great detail.
