2nd giant containership delivered to IRISL

TEHRAN – The second giant ship for transporting containerized cargo with the capacity of 6500 twenty feet equivalent unit (TEU) was delivered to the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) on June 2, IRNA reported Sunday.

Iran has ordered ten mega-carrier containerships the second of which has been recently delivered.
The ship is 304 meters long and 40 meters wide and able to sail at up to 25.8 nautical miles per hour speed and has the capacity to transport 81,112 tons of container cargo.
The mega-carrier will start from South Korea, passing through China, Singapore, Dubai, it will harbor in Bandar Abbas Port in southern Iran.
The remaining eight containerships will be added to Iran’s fleet by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2009), enhancing the IRISL’s transportation capacity by 59,500 TEU
