All Iranian victims of Kyrgyz plane crash identified

DUSHANBE (IRNA) -- Iran's Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Mohammad -Reza Saburi said Wednesday that the identification of Iranian and other victims of the ill-fated Kyrgyz aircraft which crashed in Bishkek Airport two weeks ago has been completed.

Saburi told IRNA that a team, comprising of representatives from the Foreign Ministry, Identification Department, Forensic Medicine, Iran's Civil Aviation Organization and Asseman Airlines Company, was dispatched to Bishkek to help Kyrgyz Health, Forensic Medicine and Justice Ministry officials arrange the handing over of the remains of the victims.
He said the team is now investigating, sorting and packing the remains which will be flown to Iran today.
The Iranian diplomat said that 55 of the 90 passengers of the plane were Iranians. 12 were injured and 43 died in the incident, he added.
The rest of the passengers were Kyrgyz, Kazakh and Chinese nationals, he noted.
A passenger plane bound for Iran crashed shortly after takeoff from Bishkek's Manas airport on Sunday, August 24, after the plane underwent a drastic loss of cabin pressure, claiming the lives of 90 people onboard.
