TEHRAN -- A shipping company official has stated that the new U.S. sanctions move will have no effect on Iran’s shipping activities and that Iran’s ships are quite active in the world.

“The company is doing its activities with full strength in the region and the world,” the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) Director, Mohammad-Hossein Dajmar, told the Mehr News agency.
There has been no delay in Iran’s shipping activities in international waters, Dajmar noted.
He denounced as illegal the U.S. sanctions against IRISL and said Iran has no sea link with the United States to be affected by the sanctions measure.
The U.S. on Wednesday ordered the freezing of any U.S. bank accounts or other financial assets belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines and 18 related companies. Americans were also barred from doing business with the companies, and U.S. officials said they would discourage international firms from doing business with them.
“This move has only been done by America… Of course, sanctions on the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines by this country have not had and will not have any effect on the performance and activity of our country’s shipping lines because it is many years that Iran has had no sea link with this country.”
The company official said the U.S. has taken this decision only about its ports and waters and it does not apply to other countries
